Family is the people with whom you choose to spend time. Rhiannon helped her dad sell his books at Gen Con and we all showed up for the premiere of his movie on the 16th. I tried hard to get Ian to Soak City as much as possible because he loves it. The 45 minute drive wasn’t bad at all. Once it was even exciting when we drove through a burst of rain. Robert and Rhiannon both taught Ian a little ukulele. I joined in the Steven Universe obsession. We play games together a lot for family time and randomly end up all in the big bed, talking and playing. Sometimes we even happen to eat together at the table. And family isn’t just blood relatives. Theater productions are another kind of family, working closely together for a common cause for long periods of time. Steven and his gems are another kind of family, close, with common values and purpose. Family are the people who accept you and love you for who you are, who respect you. And for those reasons you want to spend time together.
