I have to tell you a story of that wall. Although I have never seen the huge one, I have seen a smaller one (the one that travels)( I think it is just a portion of the wall). I was a child of Vietnam, but remember the bracelets of the MIA. We are a military family, and in 1971, I was in Alaska and each person in our family donated to receive a bracelet. We would read the names after Walter Cronkite signed off on news, hoping not to see the name of the one on our bracelets.
I wore that one for years. Sadly, the man named on my bracelet never made it back. In 1979/80, (I think) I rode my bike to a nearby town. (about 10 miles) to see the small tribute wall. His name was there. I left my worn red bracelet there. I cried all the way home. His life meant so much to me. ♥
