Embrace the Chaos

I have had many cats in my life, but never have I been loved by two such different ones. Shadow is outgoing, intelligent, playful, mischievous and devious. Pepper, on the other hand, is loving, shy, skittish and DOES NOT LIKE SHADOW AT ALL! Never has, never will. She tolerates Shadow existence in her house, but wants nothing to do with her. This can get a little difficult at times. Shadow, who picked up on Pepper’s dislike right away, likes to lie in wait for her to walk by and then pounces on her in glee. Pepper goes flying, then turns and stands her ground, hissing and spitting. Poor thing - I ended up having to get her prescription calming food from the vet so that she wouldn’t get sick from stress. It’s been six years, and they have managed to co-exist in something like a truce. Each has her own bowl, her own litter pan and her own place on my bed. And God help the other if one decides to stray onto the other’s place on my bed! ... and I thought kids were a challenge!
