I love your photos, the layout, your journaling, all of this. How old is your little buddy? It's never too early to read The Hobbit out loud. I read it to my girls when they were in first grade and kindergarten. I am also trying to read more. I gotten through a few big ones since July. I even finished a book that I didn't enjoy much. No rage quitting!
@trekmom thank you! He's 7 and his dad is waiting impatiently for him to have the attention span to do a nightly Hobbit read-aloud. It was actually suggested by our homeschool curriculum but he's not quite there yet. We watched Treasure Planet as our "family read-aloud" for the Exploration unit instead of reading Treasure Island (or The Hobbit) over the course of a month.
@Angela Toucan thank you too! When I mentioned there was a mosasaurus in my book, my son had to bring me the toy one.
Love your pocket page and that you are making time to read for yourself as well as letting him see how much you love it. As a fellow homeschooling mom (well, I used to be as I my youngest just started college), I'm envious you have someone to share those Read Alouds with!!
@mocamom I feel like I blinked and he's 7. If I blink twice, he'll be in college too. He's still struggling to learn to read but seeing me love it keeps him from getting frustrated. I just need to try to read less inappropriate things because the look on his face when I refused to read him a Stephen King story that involved death by lawn mower...
