These lyrics are from a song titled, My Immortal, by the band, Evanescence
I chose them because the chorus is a long standing song that connects me and my oldest daughter. She is not biologically mine, but I've been in her life with her since she was 2. I've wiped her tears, fought her fears, and held her hand. I always tell her that I became a mother when I met her dad (my husband). He had custody of her and her mother was not around, so I stepped up and stepped in. And since then she's had my heart.
