Most years I end up doing the majority of the thinking and shopping for Christmas. Since my semester didn’t end until the 15th, I told Mario that I wanted him to take care of Mom and Dad this year. He had some great ideas. a tie for dad and a gift certificate for books for Mom. One less thing I had to deal with and it was fantastic. Early on December 23rd I asked Mario where the gifts were, so I could wrap them. I was informed that he had only come up with the idea, not bought them. So before Zumba at 6 am, I ran to Kohl’s to get Dad’s tie. I was so excited to see a tie with anchors and airplanes on it, since Dad was a Navy pilot for several years. I thought it was the perfect gift! There were only two people ahead of me in line-fabulous! I hurried to Zumba, and afterwards, I went home and showed the kids my fantastic find. Imagine my surprise and chagrin when they said, “uh, mom...those are SHARKS not airplanes!”
We gave it to Dad anyway and guess what...at first, he thought they were airplanes, too.
