I had a fun childhood. It was the "Baby Boom" era and there were a lot of kids on the block within age range of my brother and I. We all played together, and a lot of the older siblings would keep tabs on us younger ones. Karen, Michael & I were inseparable. We went to each other\'s Birthday parties, we played together, our mothers were friends, it was just a wonderful childhood. Thank goodness my parents took 8 mm movie film and photographs of those times to capture those wonderful memories. I am even fortunate enough to have home movies of Karen, Michael & I going to Kindergarten on our first day of school. Karen's Dad got a transfer with his job in 1969/1970 (?) and her family moved upstate NY. We were writing back and forth for a few years, and we even visited once when my family went camping when I was around 12 years old. After that we lost touch. I don't know what happened, I guess being kids other things / friends got in the way and that was it. Michael moved away to FL a few years later, when we were older. Michael & I kept in touch all along. As we got older Mike would come back to NY to visit. I saw pictures of his wedding, he would send me pictures of his kids when they were born. Even in 2010, I went to visit Mike and his wife with my Dad. Michael gave me copies of some photos of Karen, he and I, from our first day of Kindergarten as well as Birthday parties, which I cherish. I put the home movies on a disk for Michael so he would have the movies of our childhood. Again he and I talked about Karen, and while over the years I searched for Karen, I was never able to find her or reconnect with her through the Internet, from the likes of Classmates.com. Michael & I then got together on Facebook, so I said I would search the Internet again for Karen. It was Nov. 2011 and while searching the Internet, I happened to stumble across Karen's Dad's obituary from 2010, which had Karen's married name in it. Using that as a baseline, I searched Facebook and connected with Karen's daughter. From there I connected with Karen's sister, and connected my brother with Karen's brother. Karen's sister and Karen's daughter finally persuaded Karen to register on Facebook, and now Karen, Mike & I are reconnected once again. It really has been wonderful getting back in touch with Karen. While we still haven't gotten together in person, we have been in touch on line. She was very supportive with messages and checking on me after my Dad passed in 2012, and we have shared photos and memories of our wonderful childhood. What was lost has now been found and I am so very grateful to have Karen back in my life.

What an awesome page.  Love the photos from your childhood and all the fun elements.  It's wonderful that you have been able to reconnect with your friends.

oh Christa, I'm so grateful that you found your childhood friend, and could share Karen with us!  And to have the photos too, priceless!  Lovely journaling, and the elements represent the storyline perfectly.  Thank you, for participating in this week's DigiDare,
deborah :)

What a wonderful story...The internet can be a good thing...finding old friends and staying in touch is wonderful...I have old neighbor friendsI grew up with kind of finding them through their last wareabouts or accidentally...I live so far from Hawaii and don't get back much and so keeping in touch is hard...I am glad that your parents had the forethought of keeping pics and movies now those items are precious...
