Journaling reads: As we walked onto the grounds of Deer Park, we were greeted with the sight of many deer just wandering around.. No leashes, no fences! Yes, their tiny little pellet poop were scattered around as well. We had to watch our step as we walked through the grounds. The deer were friendly, eating out of your hand or nudging you if they smelled food. It is said that the deer are the offspring of a sacred white deer and are therefore messengers of the gods. The Japanese hold them sacred and are forbidden to harm any deer.
