Dear future me in 2025,
I hope you're a mother by now. I hope you've got 1 or 2 (or more!) kids that make you smile in joy, make you laugh with their silliness, make you sigh with their messiness, and make you wonder at their creativity. I hope you stay patient with them, remember you were a child once too. I hope you don't yell at them when they make mistakes, remember you make mistakes still. I hope you teach them patience, by answering the same question for the hundredth time. I hope you teach them forgiveness, by modeling it when you do wrong against them. I hope you teach them sacrifice, by not letting them get everything they want. I hope you teach them generosity, by encouraging them to share with kids less fortunate than them. I hope you teach them the Gospel, by living it out with them daily and by speaking it to them constantly. I hope you teach them that the family is stronger when everybody is on the same team, so they get to do chores and help with the meals. I hope you teach them that they have a voice, and it’s okay to say NO if something makes them uncomfortable. I hope you teach them the value of friendships, and the influence of the right or wrong friends. I hope you show them you love their father, by demonstrating loving affection. I hope you teach them to explore – through books, through nature, through art, through music, through building blanket forts, through engineering Tinker Toy masterpieces. I hope you get in front of the camera with your kids, no matter how you look or how messy the house seems. I hope you go swimming and hiking and climbing and splashing through puddles with them. I hope you remember God comes first - before your kids, before your husband, before yourself. I hope you rely on HIM and not on your own strength. I hope you remember to ask for help from wise women and dear friends. I pray – if it's not in God's will to have your own children – that you open your heart and lives to other children who desperately need a loving home and family.
Love,
Present me in 2018
This is just fabulous! The border you created, the colors, the beautiful fonts and most of all the very inspiring advice you have written to yourself. I hope it all comes true for you.
