This photograph was always pointed out, every time we visited Grandpa and Grandma VanderVeen.
It’s of the whole family, at Uncle Rolf and Auntie Barbara’s wedding, back in July 19, 1985.
I love the colours in it, the stained glass behind, but most of all looking at the people: their expressions & what they’re wearing.
Best of all, and why this photo was a talking point and so enjoyable, is the fact that Dad, Uncle Ronald, and Uncle Calvin are all
looking away from the camera, all at the same thing, all with a mischievous grinny look to them.
The running joke was that some pretty gal was over yonder, and they couldn’t help but ogle.
But, seeing as Dad and Mom were together here, we figured it was a better story to say that there was a gorgeous car - something
with a revving engine and beautilicious body. Something picking up speed from the four way stop there.
It can’t have been revving too loudly though, otherwise Uncle Steve and Uncle Casey, (and perhaps more Uncles), surely would
have been distracted as well. Or…they had more will power to look at the photographer for the shot, and THEN look.

That’s the running story behind this photograph. The true object of their distraction? Well, that we’ll never know.
