I'm also a sucker for monarch butterflies. We just bought a bunch of $2 milkweed plants (full of caterpillars, of course) and filled the entire front bed with them. The variety of milkweed we have makes gorgeous scarlet and orange flowers too so there's a lot of pops of orange when I step outside my front door.
@Brendazzle I am thrilled to hear this. I save the seeds for the next season. I have milkweed in white and pink also. I thought about filling my raised garden bed with the milkweed instead of tomatoes and basil next summer. My tomatoes have been terrible lately. Thank you! I am happy to meet a fellow fan of Monarchs.
@trekmom A friend brought us two milkweed plants as a housewarming present and it's just grown from there. At one point, every table and shelf in the backyard was covered in pots of milkweed and even that wasn't enough. We're the only people in the neighborhood who feeds them so every monarch anyone sees was born at my house.
A Thai basil plant took over most of the empty pots (from failed plants) when I wasn't looking, which brought a bunch of very friendly bees to pollinate the backyard. Hopefully they'll pollinate my tomatoes this year so I can get more than one purple tomato (and some lovely Romas so we can make sauce).
I really love this page and your beautiful photo. Nice use of the colors, brushes, banner and leaves, brilliantly done my dear sweet friend. Nice Sunday!
@bestcee Yes, I love the color orange. I raised that beauty and set it free. That photo was great fortune for me. @G.J. Thank you. I appreciate you. I want summer and butterflies again but I don't want to rush time.
