I used to dabble with journals, diaries and paper scrapbooks while I was in high school but those were long since packed away by the time I really discovered scrapbooking back in 2000. It was then that I learned all about paper scrapping and became involved with CM products. A friend of mine invited me to a CM showing and as I looked through all of the items that CM sold, I decided that this was something that I needed to start doing. My oldest Grand Daughter had just been born and I wanted to put some of here photos into a book for her. So this is where it all began! When my Grandson was born in 2003, I had another reason to put photos on paper.
As time goes by, a persons focus changes. It could be for any number of reasons but mine was because my husband had a major heart attack and I almost lost him in 2005. That is when my scrapbooking got serious and I found digital scrapbooks and I purchased PSE. My husband having his heart attack changed my whole reason for scrapbooking. Now my focus was on leaving a story, if you will, for my Grandchildren. I realized at the time that I did not even know who some of my own family were and I didn’t want them to grow up not knowing who we were or what we did and the things we like. These kinds of things would give them a better picture of who they are and why they do the things that they do.
I have moved up to PS CS 6 and I still scrap to preserve these memories for all of my Grand children but mostly, it has become a creative outlet for me and my photography and I love the time that I spend in the scrapbooking community. Some of the people that I have met over the past 16 years have become some of my best friends and in many ways, they know more about me and my family than most of my own family! We have laughed together and cried together and we are always there for support and encouragement of each other.
Why do I scrap? I scrap to preserve the memories and for the fun of it. It also helps keep me sane in a sometimes not so sane world.
This is wonderful! I like the addition of some of your scrapbook pages along the bottom edge. And love the layering of papers and word art. Great page! Thanks for playing along with my challenge!
Carla, I love your journaling! It looks like you had a lot on your heart too about why you scrap. Your journaling reinforces my thoughts in some ways and inspires me in others. So, when I am not getting those stories written for my grands, i will be coming to you for a kick in the pants to get me going. I like the ephemera, layering and photos of your scrapbook pages.
