For the May Random Challenge, the journaling is about one of the locks in the Dutch Twentekanaal. The lock helps the ships to cover the difference in waterlevel between the channel and the river IJssel. The river level on the westside of the lock approx. 6 meters lower than the waterlevel in the channel.

oh yep i've seen a lock like this in a town in Canada years ago, fascinating stuff but 6 meters is massive, i think the one we saw was like only 2 or 3 meters! Love the page you have made about it the ampersand over the arrow and branch across the top look fabulous!
