Journal reads:
This may look like just an ordinary vintage stationery box, but it’s contents are priceless to me. It wasn’t until recently that Lori discovered this in amongst some things that were packed away after emptying Mom and Dad’s house. She found this just before her wedding, which theme was red roses, how ironic. This small box is filled with letters that Mom and Dad wrote to each other while he was in the Navy right around 1962. These are their love letters. I haven’t had the courage to read them, just little excerpts here and there. We honestly didn’t even know they existed, and we don’t remember seeing them when the house was emptied. It was almost like they wanted to be found, that Mom and Dad put them there just waiting for the right time to surface. They were discovered right around the time when Lori was looking for special readings for her wedding ceremony. Tim took these letters and wrote such a heartfelt speech for her wedding. There was such a hole without Mom and Dad there, but having their words reworked into some wisdom for Lori and Tom was truly special. You could almost hear them. Honestly, there wasn’t a dry eye in the house. One of these days I will go through them. There’s more to learn about Mom and Dad, and this is such an amazing gift. It’s still so painful and going through each day without Mom and Dad here in my life, my kids lives. I look forward to sharing these with them some day.
Oh my goodness, how beautiful! I probably couldn't have resisted reading them. Really, what a treasure! Thank you so much for joining the storytelling challenge.
