@mcurtt, A downtown church in the city of Calgary (about 20 KM from my town) started it and they then rec'd thousands of hand-made poppies from all over the world It was a stunning display and I was in the city for a concert, so I made a point of walking over to see it. I am glad I did. Hey, I have what may be a dumb question. Do you have poppies in the States for Veteran's Day? Thanks for your kind words, my friend.

@Electra Yes, but the poppies are generally the artificial one-of that you pin to your coat. They are usually given out after you donate $. Because of the time of the year, so cold, no real poppies, at least not in the midwest.

@mcurtt, same here. And then after the ceremony is finished, everyone who attends, tales their poppy off and lays it on the cenotaph. This is Canada. We won't see a real flower for months. lolol
