I can’t say I remember every day, yet it seems to have passed so much quicker than I could ever have imagined. At the same moment I’m sad our life is over with you being a child, and I’m thrilled with promise and pride in the man you have become! Thank you for making me a mom nearly 18 years ago! I’ve so enjoyed being that role, and I still will, but it will be different as you become an adult. I never wished for the time (and responsibilities) to hurry along. I relished each stage along the way - yes, even those early school years when the phone ringing would make me jump. I’m so excited to see where the future will lead your brilliant and kind soul. Your quirky personality, intelligence, charisma, and positive outlook on life should bring forth great success. I can’t help but worry that it’s all come too easily for you and that you won’t know how hard you need to work for some things that are more challenging. Don’t quit because it’s hard. Have your dad and I helped you become resilient and determined enough? I hope so. I promise that you will experience bigger struggles than you have thus far, with difficult situations and people - don’t give up. It’s worth the effort. They say that if it’s worth doing, it’s worth doing your best. I do believe that to be true (*even if that causes you to get uncomfortable and worry it won’t work). Some things will work, and some won’t, but if you don’t really try you’ll never know what great things you can achieve or if it was meant to be. You are blessed to be both capable and talented - do your best. You have great love and kindness. Your joy is infectious and intoxicating. I love that about you! Use your abilities for good. Keep the faith - in both higher powers and humanity. Look for the good in people. Keep hugging people. Continue to treat everyone well - it’s a gift of yours. I’m so incredibly proud of who you are. You are so genuine, the real deal.

How I love 'then and now' layouts. This is beautifully done - simple embellishment and such thoughtful journaling combined with those memorable photos.
