@flowersgal the image was a stock photo. is a JPG with a white background. In my program, when I select the darken blending mode, the white disappears to show the background, but it was weird so I lowered the opacity to the middle down, then duplicated the image and added it with a color burn blending mode.
Here the papers are two, the one that is beige with white circles, then the paper with the circles & the newsprint from Danyale's Messy Bun kit, the one with the circles is normal, then on top the circles one I can't remember if it was overlay or darken , can look it to for you but if you are in Photoshop, just try blending modes, because my program not always works like PSE, I know the overlays doesn't work as overlays do in PSE.... but is a question of trying out different settings <3

@MrsPeel - Thanks for the instructions. I want to give them a try but where do I get free stock photos? I'm always searching among my own limited photos to get ones for the challenges.
