Don't Stop The Music by Pink Reptile Designs
Journaling:
You had a Corona, I was drinking Bud Light
That jukebox singing every song just right that night
Something brewing in the air, it was more than just smoke
Looking back, looking back after two you laughed at all my jokes
Tonight let's raise 'em up to where we ended up
There's been highs, there's lows, fast lane freeways and bumpy roads
Cursed the devil & prayed to heaven, lost it all when we rolled some sevens
Been more smiles than there's been tears, been more good than bad years
Ain't it crazy baby how we got here, Oh, it all started with a beer
Oh, it all started with an ice cold beer
I didn't have much money but I covered them rounds
Cause a pretty girl like you makes a fellah throw his money down
You weren't shooting whiskey just shootin' the shhh...
I paid the tab we walked out the door and I remember thinking this was it
In late 1979 my girlfriends and I lived for the weekends! When Friday nights
rolled around we would pile into one of our vehicles and head to Wisconsin.
At that time, the legal drinking age in Illinois was 21, and it was 18 in W Wisconsin. Just so happened we lived only about twenty miles from the border - so ... We would all hop into one of our vehicles and make the 30 minute trip and then proceed to sing & dance at Mr. D's Roadhouse until the wee hours of Saturday's mornings - and make the trip again on Saturday evenings! I have to admit, we did not always make the wisest decisions during the escapades! One evening in January 1980 I saw a boy standing off to the side of the bar. I offered to buy him a beer, which was totally
out of character for me! He accepted and he in turn bought me a beer. We chatted the night away and I ended up hitching a ride back to my home with him! Looking back I think to myself - "What?! I did NOT do that!" But, I really did! And honestly, I didn't think twice about it! Six months after we bought each other a beer we were engaged and a year later we were married. It has now been nearly 36 years and we laugh about those crazy days when we were young and free!! Those super crazy times didn't last very long, thank goodness we grew out of that stage quickly!! The song, "It All Started
With a Beer" is a fairly new song, sung by Frankie Ballard, who is
one of favorite singers. We both laughed the first time we heard it. It's "our" song - only it came along 36 years later!
