Journalling:
Hiding my face is a foriegn concept to me. My photographer
was running a shoot capturing all ethnicities in head scarves,
with only eyes showing. The shots were beautiful. It amazed me
to see the depth of expression all of us showed when all you
could see was our eyes. Made me think a lot.
We all have our own beauty. Some feature or combination
that makes us super unique. But when you break it down to
eyes....wow. Every emotion, our souls I guess, seems to shine
from our eyes. Take away all that makes us unique, strip it down
to something we all have, 2 eyes, and you find the deepest part
of our individuality there is. Every pair of eyes were beautiful.
Full of something indescribable. I guess I`d call it the soul even
though I`m not sure what I believe about souls and such.
Since this shoot I`ve been concious of looking into peoples eyes
when speaking with them. Keeping eye contact. It`s making me
listen more and speak less. Learn more and disregard less. I am
capturing nuances and meanings that I would have missed before.
One shoot, that I found a bit uncomfortable to do, opened me up
to a new level of connection with people. I`m grateful to have had
the chance to learn this lesson. Pay attention to the eyes. That`s
where the real is
