Each year my friend Jody Ferlaak encourages people she knows to have "Root beer Floats for Teagan," in memory of her dear girl who died 13 years ago, at only four, and of the everyday moments they enjoyed with her. My kids and I had something of a goose chase in order to participate, as I am vegan and it seemed nowhere that had root beer had vegan "ice cream," and nowhere that had vegan "ice cream" had root beer. We finally solved it by buying the root beers at Qdoba and going next door to the yogurt shop.
