journaling - One day while playing out at their new tree swing, the kids discovered a painted turtle wandering around in the grass near their tree. Excited about this wildlife discovery, Carly immediately had to pick it up for pictures. After setting it back down, she decided that it needed a little bit of help in finding food, so she started gathering grass, flowers, and anything else she deemed “edible” by turtles and attempted feeding it. Getting the hint that the turtle was not wanting to be force-fed, Carly gave up her feeding attempts and went back to swinging and climbing... Her attention was quickly diverted back to the turtle, however, and Carly decided to give the feeding another try. She turned the guy around to try to convince him that he truly would like what she was offering him. Apparently, he thought the nice pink tummy in front of him looked appetizing, because without any warning, he stretched out his neck and took a bite of her shirt! It startled her and pinched the skin, but no major harm, and definitely a story worth telling!
