Description

My journaling reads:
I’ve been here, in Abingdon, since 1993. That’s 21yrs now and it’s the longest I’ve ever lived anywhere! When I was growing up, my dad was in the RAF, which meant I moved home every 5/6yrs. As you can imagine, this could’ve played havoc with my education, but mum & dad took the decision to send me off to boarding school in Alnwick. I spent 8yrs living just a stone’s throw from the castle (where some of the Harry Potter movies were filmed, but that’s a story for another day!) and I thoroughly enjoyed my time there. When I left school, I moved to Germany for 4yrs & worked for NAAFI. That’s where I met Iain. He was in the Army at the time, but his regiment got posted back to Abingdon, whilst I got transferred to Brize Norton. Both military bases are in Oxfordshire, but it wasn’t too long before we decided that Abingdon was where we wanted to call home. Abingdon was where we wanted to “put down roots” and when asked, it’s now where we tell people we come from.

Thanks for looking & reading!

This is a beautiful page.  I enjoyed reading your journaling.  I had a military Dad as well and have remained pretty mobile as an adult.  Don't you love being able to answer the question "where are you from?"  :)
