Living in a rural area had its challenges. One particular challenge comes to mind when I think back to the many years of trick or treating as a child. For one, we were not able to walk from door to door to trick or treat. Our neighbors were far enough away that we had to pile up into the car and drive to the next closest house. I also remember only going to houses of people that we personally knew, and people that my parents trusted. It was just one of those extra precautions that they took to ensure our safety.
