journaling:
Growing up the only way I have ever eaten Tuna was the SOLID White tuna in water, out of a can. It could only be made into Tuna salad for a sandwich or for a regular garden salad and an accompaniment. (In Home Ec. we made the obligatory “Tuna Casserole” with the crumbled potato chips on top, and because it was hot canned tuna, I just could not eat it.) - I think I got that from my Dad as he too, could not eat tuna any other way than on a sandwich. Also I am VERY picky and normally will not order Tuna Salad when we are out as I only like solid white in water, and a lot of times the restaurants use the dark tuna and that makes me think of cat food as it really has a pungent odor.

Moving on... One day I was out with my hubby with his office at an A.J. Gators Pub/Bar, and they had a bunch of hors d'oeuvres. One of the girls had me try one of them, and I had no idea what I was trying. I was like oh this is delicious... tastes like beef! She told me, it is Ahi Blackened Tuna... I said NO WAY! It tastes like beef! Yup that was what it was, and I was now hooked!

Now for the past 15 years, hubby makes me blackened Tuna with grilled asparagus & red peppers. It is so yummy! Now besides canned solid white Tuna in water, I will eat grilled and blackened Ahi Tuna. A monster was created that day at the Bar/Pub!!!

Love this! Fresh tuna is so different than canned. It's a good thing that horsd'ouvres tray came your way and caught you off guard.

And the palate becomes more refined! Tee hee! Love that you had this experience! What a fun thing to share about! Your page is delightful!

I love the layout, the journaling and how you changed your mind about eating tuna. This page is so much fun.

@Laura ODonnell Thanks Laura! I know re catching me off guard.. wow it is really amazing especially rare in the center.. it truly tastes like Beef but wow to the yummy.. We had it last night, but I didn't take a photo so I had to search through all of my photos to find where I last took one of it! Ha! Thanks again for your comments!

@scrapchyck thanks Becky.. Umm I am not going to discuss the Wasabi at the Japanese steak house (where you sit around the grill and they cook in front of you.) We were seated with people we did not know as we went out for dinner the two of us. Even though I have known my hubby my whole life (well since I was 6) I am still gullible and believe him LOL.. He said try this, and gave me the wasabi green stuff with something we were eating and om goodness!!! My eyes started to water and this woman sitting across just was caught off guard that I fell for it LOL.. We laughed but oh lordy was that ever hot! Never touched wasabi after that! Some experiences are not good ones .. LOL thankfully Ahi Tuna was! Thanks again!

@cfile To be fair, it looks like it could be avocado! Mean trick to play, though! But most people survive. It's a no from me, too.

Gorgeous page! I have never tried tuna except from a tin. Now I am curious to try this.

@bcgal00 thank you Rae.. it has to be rare/pink in the center, but blackened it is amazing. It does not taste fishy and you will be amazed as it tastes completely different from the can! I do not eat salmon filets as I do not like that white film between the layers. Tuna does not have that. Let me know what you think if you try it!

@scrapchyck lol... you are funny Becky.. yes re the wasabi.. for me an avocado is a hard no! It was a funny trick though. He knew I wasn't trying a lot of it! :)
