Description
This is for Summer School Week 3's challenge to Dive Deep into one subject or passion. I LOVE scuba diving and am so glad I didn't let my fear of deep water keep me from learning how to do this!

Journaling: I absolutely love diving, but it wasn’t always the case. To be honest, I used to be scared of swimming in deep water. I used always say “they’re gonna get me!” What I came to realize after I learned how to scuba dive was that I didn’t like not being able to see what was underneath me in big open water. After I went scuba diving the first few times, I learned the behavior of the fish and underwater creatures and that help me to not be scared of the wide open water spaces! I grew up on Lake Michigan, which to visitors, looks like the ocean. We don’t have sharks obviously, but my brain would make me think there were giant monsters under water, because I couldn’t see them. It seems silly, at it was, but it was something always in the back of my head. We got certified to dive before our big trip to St. Kitts in the West Indies and I’m SO glad we did. It was absolutely amazing! We went to visit James’ sister who was attending Vet. school there and because we could stay with her, we stayed for almost three weeks. We bought a package to go diving 10 times while we were there. That was also, awesome becuase we went with the same boat and dive crew each time. Once they got to know our comfort and skill level, they took on increasingly amazing (and deep dives). We saw so many fabulous things, like ship wrecks, a crashed plane used in one of the Jaws movies and SO many beautiful sea creatures too, including sharks, lobsters, sea stars, sea cucumbers and even a sea turtle. After that vacation, I was hooked for life. We’ve planned many vacations just so we could go diving again and every time I just love getting lost in the peaceful calm of being far under the waves. The fish don’t even seem to care that we are there until we get very close, so you get to observe them like you’re living in a gigantic fish tank with them. I don't get to go diving as often as I would like and I can't wait until I can go the next time!
I love this! I get being worried about visibility; I have a few "closer encounters than I intended" snorkeling stories. I uh... can't really see underwater without my glasses.

I don't know if you've ever been diving in South Florida but there are so many beautiful places around here.

What a great photo of your family diving! And the journaling - wonderful storytelling. I love your page design with the big photo background and the scalloped extra photos on top. I'm also in awe of your shadow work - everything is to touchable!

Fabulous page and journaling. How wonderful that you are all able to dive together!
While I love to snorkel, I have not been successful with scuba diving. I have some serious boyancy issues!!

Stunning photo ! All is perfect in this page. The long journaling is very subtile in white but tells so well the story. Congratulations for the Froggy Fave, so well deserved. Thanks for sharing.

What a gorgeous photo and you scrapped it so beautifully! Love the bold blue!
