Tornado

Description
Created for TLP's Summer Camp Hiking Challenge

I chose to write about how I didn't react to something I was told recently in way I would have years ago. Progress...growth...but man, this one caught me way off guard. Did NOT have this on my 2025 bingo card (sorry for vague-posting...not really my story to tell--just the reaction part).

CREDITS: Rachel Jefferies Just Like the Weather (background-blended; leaves, scatter, stitching, journaling strips, stars, journaling prompt); Jen Caputo's Torn Out and Curled Rips; tornado photo from Risk Management Magazine; NBK Design's artCrush #77 (photo inside tear); EH Studios Sentimental Sort (heart stamp); Font: The Dry Ribbon by Heather Joyce.

Beautiful page and I am very sorry for the "life tornado" but glad you are handling things better than you would have 20 years ago. Amazing how age does that, right? I find I don't get upset anymore by things I have no control over. It is pointless in my mind... glad you found a great coping mechanism. I really love your moving piece of art here, Becky. The road the powerful color blending and that rip / tear that reflects life reality. Beautiful!

with age comes wisdom. I love the tearing of the canvas as if you are peeling the layers back slowly. Wonderful arty

Wow. I love the imagery you chose to use, from the road, to the paper tear with the child's face. You tell an incredible story of change and personal growth. I salute you and wish you all of the best facing the future.

I am blown away by the beauty and despair in this page. I am so sorry about your life tornado. That is an apt way to describe tragedy. Working through this with art is exceptional. I applaud you.

Thank you @cfile @tappy @StefanieS and @trekmom -- I knew my scrapbooking community would get it. I appreciate your words of encouragement so much. Thank you for loving the art and understanding the imagery that helped me work through what's going on.

Blessed that my challenge coincided with a story you had teetering on the edge to be told. The way you have represented your feelings here through the art is a smart move, I can tell it took a large amount of energy to just put this out there, and I feel your big exhale of air with that journaling - sending much love and hugs - thanks for taking part in the challenge

@Rachel Jefferies all your artwork has been so instrumental in my journey through so many things. I appreciate that you cover the spectrum of human experience, especially in your word art. Thank you for the challenge and your kind words.
