JOURNALING:
It’s a “first” for me – season tickets to the Columbus Symphony. (Pic 1) Opening night (Sept. 20) was a festive celebration of the music of John Williams; some attendees dressed in Star Wars costumes! (Pic 2 & 3) We were unable to attend the next presentation, Wagner’s Ring, because of a conflicting soccer game. Instead we went to the dress rehearsal (Oct. 5). This was fascinating to see the final tweaks to the production and learn more about their process from Music Conductor Rossen Milanov. (Pic 4, 5, 6) Friday (Nov. 1) we were treated to an outstanding performance of Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 2 featuring 21 year old Maxim Lando. “New Yorker” magazine has described Lando as “…a pianist who is astonishing when one hears him for the first time.” After the intermission, the symphony played Mussorgsky’s “Pictures at an Exhibition” and then Lando returned to enthrall the audience with the piano version of the masterpiece. Outstanding evening!!!! Next up: “Handel’s Messiah”.

Wow - what amazing journaling - great storytelling! You did a wonderful job capturing the symphonies that you attended. Great choice of the stringed instruments paper. Love this!
