I was so happy to find these Christmas cards that I signed and gave to my parents in 1955 & 1956. They are dated by my mother. That's her handwriting. Clearly, this was a project organized by them. I love my 1955 imitation of cursive handwriting and seeing what I learned by the end of 1956.
As for retro: the tissue paper background looks like something we used to wrap gifts. The scallops, & the semi-faded portions of the title & papers fill my childhood memories. Maybe they weren't faded at the time but all the remnants of that time that I find now are not quite perfect in that way.

@mary kate, thank you. I was thrilled when I unearthed the original cards a few years ago. I sat on the front stoop and paged through the whole box and took lots of photos.
