Nearly eight years, you have been my backbone, my everyday hero and my bestest fur friend. I couldn't have done these past few years without you. I watched you grow from a teeny pup into something beyond amazing. I remember when you were little and I wondered if you would ever catch on. After all, you didn't even know how to walk on a leash when we first got you. Yet you learned, and learned fast. You have been there to catch me when I was about to fall. You have been my ears when I could not hear. You alerted to more vertigo than I can count on my fingers and even toes! And you have been that creeper watching me while I bath or shower to make sure I am okay. Now, it is my turn to take care of you. A few months back we noticed your left eye was a bit cloudy. As the weeks went by it got more and more cloudy. Finally, we took you in and got the worst news possible. You have a cataract. You are going blind in that eye. It breaks my heart in two to see you struggle and not be the dog you once were. That is why I made the difficult choice to retire you early. So you can live the life you need to. And while you may not understand now why you can't go everywhere with me anymore, I hope you know how much I love you. I am doing the best for you, like you have for me all these years. I love you fur face.

Oh Kari, I'm so sorry that Neelix is getting a cataract and that you had to retire him early. He's been your constant companion for so long. Beautiful heartfelt journaling. You love for him shows through all your words. I really like the series of photos and the amazing title work. Wonderful page!
