Journaling reads: So many people reached out to me when my mom passed away in September of 2022. I was with her for the last two weeks of her life and it was very stressful and surreal. My friends were constantly sending me encouraging texts and so many other people that weren’t close friends got in contact with me. It was so helpful to my mental state. There is just something about knowing that other people care enough to check in on you. It makes you feel like you are not alone during one of the loneliest times in your life. I have always struggled with having this kind of empathy for others. I get so wrapped up in my life and my world that I do forget to look out for those around me that aren’t my family. Sometimes all it takes is a text to let someone know that you’re thinking of them. Sometimes it might be as simple as dropping off some flowers to brighten ones day. Bringing an acquaintance some chocolate to help them forget about their problems for a minute. That is having empathy, concern and love for others. That is what I want to work on this year. That is my one little word, my goal for 2023...Aware! I must do better. Someone lifted me during my trials and I want to let those around me know that I am here to lift them and support and help cheer them on through life! 2023
So glad you shared your journaling, Kimberly. What an amazing takeaway from all that you've been through. Very touching. I love your use of the kit with the journal. Beautiful.
