Journaling reads:
"In 2008, at the tender age of 6-going-on-7, James decided that he wanted to go to sleepaway camp. Initially I said, 'No:' I figured he was far too young to go away from home like that. But ultimately, and in the face of a highly effective campaign of persuasion on the part of my son, I relented. 'What’s the worst thing that could happen?' I thought, 'We get a phone call from the camp director asking us to pick up our son because he’s too homesick? Well, okay…' That phone call never came. From the moment he set foot in his cabin and claimed a top bunk, James LOVED camp. When we went to pick him up (3 weeks away from home at the age of 6-going-on-7!), he was very proud to display his Camper of the Session award.
James returned to Camp McAllister in the summer of 2009. And then, from 2010 to 2016, he was a summer camper at Fairview Lake Camp.
In the summer of 2017, at the age of 16-going-on-17, James was a too-cool-for-school CIT at Fairview Lake Camp."
