My journaling reads:
Why I scrap? I started scrapbooking when I was teenager - pictures and stickers on craft paper in those sticky page albums...then graduated to like using real elements, better supplies (scrapbook paper, better stickers and elements) etc. I kept up with traditional scrapbooking until 2006 about the time my oldest child was around 16 - then discovered the very early days of digital scrapbooking.
I scrapbook to preserve memories and tell a story, recording moments in time with paper and elements. I don't always journal, preferring the page to tell the story. I made my very first digital scrapbook in 2007 for a visiting foreign exchange student as a gift for when he went back to his home country. EVERYONE was so amazed, and it bolstered me to continue on this journey.
I started making them for my kids every year - capturing moments in their life - not just professional photos but candid moments captured...I have trained them well to send me photos no matter the subject then I sort them by month. They get a book every December. I have made ABC books for my nephews and memory books for my parents of the grandchildren. I enjoy making these works of art that spark such joy for those that receive them.
I totally get a thrill at making even the simplest of photos jump out on pages and tell the story without really needing many words. But most of all I know my kids will cherish these for years to come and share them with their children one day. They have friends that want to see them each time they get a new one and my kids are adults! My kids display them proudly which makes this momma super pleased and happy.
Why I scrap? I scrap to preserve our family’s memories and moments in time.
what a wonderful story behind your scrapbooking journey, and what a fun read for us. I love the way you combined stamping and elements to create a scene and a border to frame your page, such a special one, too.
