Oh wow! Oh wow! That photo is amazing! I loved reading your journaling. DH is/was a professional musician, for many years he performed with an 18 piece jazz band. He would also perform with smaller combos. Your photo brought back many memories for me. Thanks so much for participating in Lynn's Old Photo Challenge!
@mcurtt Thank you Marilyn. So glad to have evoked good memories for you too. I love how devoted musicians are to their craft. I was a "Daddy's girl" and looking at this photo takes me back to being a little girl, sitting on his lap listening intently as he reminisced about his days on the road. Thank you for this challenge and especially thank you for sharing your feelings.
@Angela Toucan Thank you Angela! I challenged myself to do a grungy background and it came out better than I expected. I was going for a dark, 'nightclubsy' kind of feel and I am pleased with the results.
@LynnG Thank you Lynn. Thank you for the challenge. Using your kit to scrap that photo opened a new door for me - to use color and contemporary kits on old photos. I thought I needed to stick to black, brown, grays, dark green monochromatic color schemes. This has been a breath of fresh air.
What a great photo and wonderful journaling. You did a great job with your "nightclubsy" background and the sign for the jazz club really sets the stage for the whole. Fabulous layout!
@flowersgal Thank you so much for noticing my sign! I had a lot of fun working on that sign - of course I was going for a 'neon' look, like those kind of clubs sport at night. This challenge stretched my 'creativity muscle' - just another reason why TLP is a fabulous place to be - this community inspires growth.
What a precious photo to have @Lillyia and while those dark backgrounds are not the first thing that "I" think of either they can be so so effective with this type of light image. I know that area very well -born in Philadelphia, raised in the DC area and had a job that took me from Baltimore to the tip of SoMD. You rocked this one...with a jazz beat for sure! so this is a
@cookingmylife OH WOW!! Thank you so much. I am so honored to have created a FROGGY FAVORITE!!! ...with a Jazz beat...I like that. I was born in Harrisburg, so we are practically 'Home girls'. You have made my day!
