Dear Trail,
It is difficult to describe my joy at seeing you again today after 47 days apart. (Yes, I was counting the days!) Little did I know when I last visited you on March 22nd, 2020 that it would be the last time we would be together for quite a while. I have missed you so much! You probably already know this, but I still put on my running shoes and ran to your entrance gate almost every day we were apart, just to check and see if I could visit you! As sad as I was to see the chain and padlock on your gate, I understood why we could not be together. After almost seven weeks, I heard the news that I could return. To say that I was excited would be an understatement. Today felt like Christmas morning! I was up at dawn just so I could see you again! So much has changed since we were last together. In March I was relishing your vivid spring color, and your wildflowers had just started to bloom. Everything was so lush and green! Back then, the sun was only coming up just before seven each morning, so it was very easy to enjoy the sunrise with you. With the time change for Daylight Savings Time, I needed to get up very early to see the sunrise with you today. It was worth it. The warmer days we have enjoyed of late have dried your spring growth, but you are still every bit as perfect as I remember. It is so good to be back!
