Great memory and so nice to hear you're making those shanks too! I wish shanks had not become a pricey cut of meat I'm not a button person but I love the bordering here with the key line and double paper topped with the little red buttons!
@cookingmylife Thanks Maureen... I agree re price of the shanks, but out of 2 shanks we get 2 meals so it was worth it to me I usually will buy the lamb shoulder steaks... never get chops as they are really expensive and not much there and the leg of lamb is way too much Thank you for the sweet comments re my journaling and re the buttons and border etc. Thank you again
OMG.... and now I WANT... I NEED a piece of lamb!!!!!! Too funny, you mention the lamb chops, that's what hubby loves! I used to buy them when B was a baby and it was extremely expensive back then, I can't even imagine how much they are now. Hubby could go through 7-9 of those tiny triangle chops! YIKES!!!!
@cfile We have been eating a lot of chicken and ground meat. I miss having other cuts of meat. Gosh, I miss going to multiple supermarkets just grabbing my favs from here and thee. The other day I was talking to hubby because, he mentioned that the meats are not as tender as before COVID. I told him that he didn't know was that I went to 5 different markets to get food. One had the best chicken, the other the seafood, the other one the ribs and pork and the last one the fresh veggies and fresh produce. Now, I am getting whatever I can get in one of them.
And now my mouth is watering. Great memories and photo. I love lamb shanks which I was introduced to at the historic Golden Lamb in Lebanon, Ohio. I have their recipe (a long list of ingredients) and have made it several times but lamb shanks are very hard to find where I now live.
@Dalis yes I agree..I always shop at Walmart and then go to our grocery that I love but is more expensive.. since we can go to the Sr hours (hubby hit the magic # in the fall) we will still go to the grocery for anything I want that I couldn’t get at Walmart.. meats and produce better at grocery than Walmart! Good luck shopping.. we do a lot of chicken too and since we got the ninja foodie grill we have been doing a lot in it!!
@flowersgal ah I have a hit and miss at the grocery especially these days so when I see them I buy and freeze for when we want them. I was waiting in Ireland to gave it and constantly it was stew everywhere when finally 5 days in to our trip I finally had my lamb shank in Killarney!
