INSANITY

Description
I wasn't going to do a layout about the state of affairs until our DD came home from "trying" to grocery shop for us and brought these pictures.

Boy. This says it all. I've been pleased to see people walking through our neighborhood with their dogs. Everyone is friendly, but DISTANT...like across the street from each other (we don't have sidewalks, so everyone just walks on the edges of the streets). Didn't know dogs could be carriers. :'(

It sure would be nice if someone could give us an educated estimation of how long the quarantining will have to last...a tiny window of hope.

@SharLamb Yes it would, Shar. People are very strange here - we who walk our dogs several times a day have become "sort of friends" and people won't even stop to talk now. I had a woman "who, in the past made such a big deal out of my dog" tell my dog that she couldn't touch her today." Of course, I'm one of those "love me love my dog" people, so I was highly insulted. This woman and her husband were practically sitting in our backyard and I told her that she better wear a disguise from now on because she has always encouraged my dog to run to her. Poor dogs don't know the difference.

I don't think we've YET seen all the repercussions that will result. I am sad for the people who are eaten up with fear and anxiety. And on the other hand, thrilled to see how my children are coping...finding wonderful family activities. I should scrap my DGS's birthday "celebration" yesterday. All the parents are using this as a learning opportunity for their kids, with positive spins. Oh the stories that are going to be told for decades!

@SharLamb That makes my heart happy! It should be a learning experience - we're trying to present it as such to Asher. I'm not sure everybody is doing that, though. We went for a walk yesterday and none of his little friends could even come to the door to talk to him!! I find that a "little" extreme. He asked me what was wrong with people. Out of the mouths of babes. It's so hard to explain these times to an 8 year old when you don't even understand them yourself. People around here are actually terrified to get close to each other. Again, I find that a bit extreme.

@Cherylndesigns - it's good to get your feelings out in this layout. It truly reflects your sadness at the state of affairs today. I'm hoping that at least you have sunshine where you are so you can get out. We've had rainy gray days one after another. I long for sunshine.

@flowersgal Thank you, Patsy. Yes, we have beautiful sunshine and so far, we can leave our house and walk the dog several times a day. My GS usually walks with me and we talk about the beautiful weather and listen to the birds singing their beautiful songs. March is when they sing and sing at the top of their lungs. I'm trying valiantly to keep the little guy thinking positively. I keep reminding us that "His Eye is on The Sparrow".

Gosh, your grocery store shelves are much more barren than ours. Alternative universe is a good way of putting it. Hugs!

@mcurtt It's terrible here! Chuck got up yesterday and was there at 7 AM for seniors only and there was NO TP and no paper towels. He got about everything else, thankfully. This is typically what the grocery shelves look like by the afternoon. :(
