2017 was my last Christmas eating meat. So my last turkey
dinner! The following year, I really worried that having no turkey
would spoil Christmas. Having had turkey every year since I was
born, it felt like a huge part of the celebrations. But I needn’t
have worried. Food is not quite as important as I thought. It
took losing a food to realise this.Being with family, eating together,
playing silly games, and being very grateful for it all, is actually what it’s all about.
Traditional food is a wonderful addition, but not
essential. Any food is good, and something to be thankful for.
I was shocked to realise that fact. I was expecting to struggle, and
instead, had a kind of epiphany. So this year was a breeze!
