besides the typical presents and christmas tree hunting excursions, the biggest early memory i have of christmas is with rachel. this is not really a surprise as we are closest in age and grew up in the same bedroom. we would always get the same presents, and absolutely loved it because we always had the same toys to play with. but the thing i remember the most is that at the start of christmas break we would attempt to “train” ourselves to stay up later and later every night. all in the hopes of trying to stay up all night on christmas eve to catch the ever elusive santa clause. we never made it through the entire night because we never, ever caught santa with the presents. but we always knew he came, because every christmas morning the presents were stacked high under the christmas tree with pretty much everything that we all wanted. it would always amaze us how santa always knew exactly what we wanted.
