California-Poppy-Day

Having lived in California for over 30 years, I HAD to commemorate this day with my page. It's my thinking the California poppy is the reason the state is nicknamed "The Golden State". Just pay a visit to Antelope Valley when the poppies are in bloom if you doubt my statement. (OK - MAYBE the gold rush of 1849 played a part in the nickname too.)
