Journaling:
Friends and family tend to assume we, especially me, didnt have a clue about raising a boy. Comments were made about how easy we had it and that we didn't know the extent to which life would change by adding a boy to the family. They insisted we had it easy before your arrival, because girls are so much easier than boys. To be honest Im not sure what the intentions of these comments were other than to scare us, but they fell short. First of all Papa is a boy after all and has first hand knowledge. Secondly, Im 10 years older than my brothers and had an active role in helping raising them. So both Papa and I have a pretty good idea about the differences of boys and girls. Boys tend to play harder than girls, which you have shown by the daily bruises, scraps, and holes in your clothes and shoes. But your are truly a wonderful little boy and at almost three you are already a sweet and caring little person. You love to read and do workbooks. You love to play with your sisters, but also love to have alone time and play with your cars, trucks and horses. You already have mastered Please and Thank You without prompting. These characteristics were all the things that your sisters did at the same age and we were told we were lucky and had it easy. I would agree 100% that we are lucky as we have a life filled with love, laughter and joy. As far as having it easy, Im not sure we ever had it easy. Life as a family is so rewarding and brings so much love, but it takes work by all of us to make it this way. I guess to outsiders it looks like its effortless and I guess that too is a testament about how lucky we are to have one another.
