This is an ATC. JOURNALING: Red had always been my color. As a sports fan, I identify with "team" colors. When I discovered baseball in the 50's, I became a Cincinnati Reds Fan! After over a quarter of a century baseball finally broke my heart. In 1994, I discovered soccer and became a season ticket holder with MLS's first team, the Columbus Crew. It was strange to have to embrace a new color scheme, "black and gold," but I did it with all my heart. Even when the team was sold to a snake-in-the-grass in 2013 and re-branded in 2014, I was still "black and gold." When the snake's perfidity was discovered in late 2017 and a grass-roots movement to "Save the Crew" was born, those colors became even more important to me as a symbol of fans sticking up for THEIR team. And, in the future, when the snake has been tossed out of our city and a new Columbus Crew is born, I'll still be "black and gold." Love how you showed the progression. I'm not up on mid-west sports to know who the snake-in-the-grass was, but I am aware of the Pittsburgh Steelers, (your black and gold), so assume you must root for them too. (DD lived in PGH for a few years, but I am a Seahawks fan. Still, I like the Steelers even though they beat us in a Super Bowl a few years back.)
I loved reading your story (amazing that you got all that on an ATC!!) and seeing how colors are important in your life. I noticed that "snake" between the 2014 and 2017 soccer girls; clever. I love the four logos on the various Crew shirts and also how the girl dressed in the Red's colors is a little faded to indicate in the past. Great job.
I absolutely LOVE that you put the story in here! Thank you! This is so awesome! I used to play sports - back when I was young, lol, so I totally understand you on following the teams and the colors!!
