Journal says:I try to arrange some sort of trip out of town as we approach my birthday on August 8th. I tell myself that if I can make it to my birthday and treat myself to a trip out of the heat, I can certainly make it through the rest of the torching summer heat in Phoenix. Last year, due to Chip's emergency appendectomy, our Washington trip was cancelled. We got it rescheduled this summer before our flight vouchers expired and I was so relieved to be out of the 100+ degree heat. We experienced a 40 degree difference and it was so refreshing!
