Journaling 388 words
Journaling Reads:
Why do I scrap? I have always been a creative soul. As a child, I loved to draw and paint, and art was one of my favorite subjects at school. When I first started working, a large chunk of my income was spent on art supplies. My first trip to Walt Disney World in 1996 led to a need to document my visit. It was a low-budget trip, and souvenirs were a luxury I could not afford. Instead, I took photos and collected park maps, tickets, serviettes and even individual sugar sachets if they carried the name of a park on them! (This was long before the current generic Disney Parks logo was introduced). I carried a journal with me, and each day I would record my thoughts and write about the day’s events. I wrote in great detail because, at the time, I did anticipate a return visit anytime soon. When I returned home, I put all the photos, mementoes and journaling into an album, and my very first Walt Disney World scrapbook album was born. It was very thick and very heavy as it contained all the treasures I had accumulated along the way!
In 2006 I was gifted a box of paper scrapbooking supplies and equipment. Playing with paper became an infatuation and I accumulated quite the stash of paper scrapbooking supplies! A gift of My Memories Software in 2011 led to my first forays into digital scrapbooking. I downloaded every freebie I could lay my hands on! I discovered that I could combine my love for art and photography with my love for storytelling. The fact that I could create art without needing much space, or leaving a mess behind was also a bonus! I upgraded to PS Elements and spent countless hours watching tutorials and experimenting with techniques. I find the creative process is therapeutic. Being able to write down my feelings has helped me cope with life’s ups and downs, and has kept me sane. Another I reason I scrap book is because I have found a digital home here at “The Pad.” I love the sense of community, and how we care for, inspire and support one another. We have learned so much about each other’s lives and families through shared gallery pages. I am a Storyteller, and this is home.
