Abuelita would be like nan or granny
that's how all the kids in my family call my mum. Sarita has a very strong, special relationship with her even though we live 4000 miles away. I always say that is the cloud's silver lining on the failure of my operations back in 2003: Sarita got to spend a year with my mum, and then again in 2005/06 another 6 months, as my mum came to look after us. We used to spend only holiday time with them as we used to be there for every Christmas/New Year, but the opportunity to be with my mum like she was in the times that I was in hospital and then each operation (alleged) recovery gave them both something treasured. My mum taught Sarita to cook, which she does like a pro these days
