In New Zealand and Australia immigrants from England are called 'Poms' or equally often "Pommie b****rds". Apparently some sort of rhyming slang whereby immigrant became 'pomegranate' (perhaps because they turned as red as a pomegranate in the sun). Anyway, not long after we arrived there was a 'punch a pom a day' joke campaign .. ha, ha very funny Didn't exactly add to my childhood as you can imagine.
