Journaling reads:
Tornado season 2005 began with disaster response training just before Men’s Camp. Revamped and made mandatory, officers like John, who were part of the larger Territorial Disaster Team, taught practical classes on what to expect, what to do, and more importantly what NOT to do in the three response stages. John specialized in assessment and the search and rescue phase. He loved what he did and he did it extremely well. He was sent to all the big disasters - and most of the small ones. Amazingly, there were no Oklahoma tornadoes in May 2005, the only May since 1950 to see no tornadic activity. May accounts for about 41% of all Oklahoma twisters in the last 66 years. The whole of 2005 was pretty quiet in the Sooner State.
