Description
journaling:
My mom held down the fort for
long periods of time. She went thru chicken pox, measles, teething,
numerous ear infections and so much
more. The loneliness without her husband there to help and just talk too. Dad was in the Navy and on a ship; USS Belmont. He was out at sea for months at a time. He was on the other side of Africa and in the Mediterranean Sea. No phone calls.
There were troops in Vietnam, and rumors of more and war were strong. We were at Norfolk, in Virginia. Keeping the home fires burning in the States. Mom looks so cool in her wig, and 1960s garb. Danny and I playing with Dad’s sailor hat and Chief Hat. Memories are blurry for me then, but my mom was tough! I have seen the letters her and my dad wrote to each other. Some lasting love in each one.

oh what beautiful journaling Anne... I am glad to see you and your brother as littles and right here where I am living :) I know it was tough back then on your Mom. So glad though it is now a memory and they are enjoying their lives together. I am so glad you have seen/read the letters they wrote to each other during that trying time. I have my parents love letters and have yet to read them. I am still not sure whether to read them or not. I feel like I am prying without permission. I have had them 5 years now..sweet page Anne... Yup with the slides... it was cheaper developing then printing ... I have tons of slides I scanned. Beautiful scrapping.. thank you for sharing and I love the little "Anne" photos :) Hugs!

Lovely layout, Anne. Fun photos of you and your brother. Your mother was a strong woman. My husband's mother was also married to a Navy man and experienced him being gone for long periods of time on a ship while she was left to deal with the kids and other issues.

Anne, this is just stunning. I love your memories of Dad and Mom and those photos are fabulous. My mom had a wig just like that!! Your title is just perfect for that era, cross-stitching was such a fad back then as were the slides. Thanks for taking the heritage challenge.

Anne, you and your brother are such cuties! I thoroughly enjoyed your journaling. And I would have no idea how your mother was able to manage. Fantastic memories for you to document.
