my journaling
We have arrived on Ile de Ré. We stop at the first village. Rivedoux Plage is a small village situated on the bridge that connects the island to the mainland. The view of this bridge from the beach of Rivedoux Plage is phenomenal. Rivedoux Plage originated as a small fishing village in the Middle Ages. It was one of the first villages to live off the fishing and sale of oysters. Rivedoux is still the Mecca of oyster farming. At low tide you can see the oyster beds from the harbor.
