My death fear is by drowning... deathly afraid of water, I have tried many times, as a child and even as an adult to learn to swim... Always a fail...
This fear was instilled in me by my grandmother who transferred her fear to me at a very young age!!!
A couple of years ago, my daughter and a couple of others recommended Water Aerobics to me, as a way to improve balance, so 2 years ago, in 2023, I signed up for Insurance that included a gym membership at any gym in Redding, I decided to take the plunge (pun intended) and give it a try...
Of course as in swimming, you really have to be out in the water to get anything out of it... But I was terrified and clung tightly to the side of the pool...
One day one of the life guards came over and handed me some floaty dumbbells... OH MY!!! What a difference that made... I could go out in the water, without fear of falling over... that was a real game changer for me...
I participated in classes once a week from February 2023, through December 2024, when my insurance went away and I no longer had a free gym membership...
I can’t say I really enjoyed it, but I persevered, and now have new insurance that offers a membership at at least one gym that offers Water Aerobics... I am deciding if I want to go back to it, or try some other form of exercise... Personally I did not feel it helped my balance???
