MOC 2024 - Day 16 - Human Connection
Journaling - When we first moved into our house, I was so excited to know that the Iron Horse Trail was within walking distance. I walked it every day for years some days multiple times... depending on the weather and my mood. There were people I knew by sight and we'd wave and smile. Some people I saw every day: the man in the speed suit and roller blades who would fly down the trail swooping around everyone, the two grandmas who must have been neighbors pushing their grand kids' strollers and talking loudly either to each other or one the phone, the neighborhood kids used the trail as a quick route to the middle and high schools, the tall older man with a huge grin who wore jogging shorts completely with matching head and wristbands and the gang of cyclists who'd take up the entire trail so they could chat about whatever as they barely missed us walkers and then there were the random people who walked the trail maybe once a week. Everyone would nod or wave. I haven't walked the trail daily since Covid lock down. I think about it, but I just never do. I wonder about those people I saw so often... are they still walking the trail, have they moved or have they found other things to do. Maybe that could be something I could push myself to do... maybe I'll see some of them again. I can do without those cyclists though. Jan. 2024
